La Tuna
Just south of downtown.  Very neat outdoors feel.  Bar is outside among the trees, beer cap grass.  Try the La Tuna burger.  It'll be the only thing you eat that day.

Podna's
Northeast of downtown, its New Orleans cajun the way locals must have it.  Jalepeno catfish and shrimp poboys are always a favorite.

Le Madeline
Didn't know what to think at first, until I walked in.  Its a very nice and inexpensive homemade sandwich/soup place.  If you can, and I doubt you will, get a blueberry muffin.  I swear they only make 5 per day because they are always out.

Chicken crossant with potato soup

Firehouse Subs
I love a good hot sandwich and this place beats out Subway and Quizno's.  Check out the hundred or so hot sauces they have.  That'll definitely keep you coming back.

Spaghetti Warehouse
A little of the beaten path but its very good for a quick lunch.  I usually have the lasagna.  The inside is a throwback.  How often do you see train cars inside a giant brick warehouse turned restaurant?

Aldaco's
Home of the Early Bird Special.  Its a Texas take on Mexican food in that its different, but very good.  If you get there early enough you can get soup and drink included in your lunch special.

La Foccacia
The best italian close to downtown.  They are very laid back and the atmosphere will ease your mind. Parking could be an issue since its very limited and you'll have to park on the street.

Johnny's Seafood
This is a good out-of-the-way place to get a quick bite of seafood.  I have always liked the flounder. Its very well decorated on the inside,  you'll swear you were on a fishing boat somewhere.

Home of the Chicken Fried Steak.  If you can finish the Sherriff's special, my hat goes off to you.  The burgers here have recently been totally redone and are excellent.  Free Wi-Fi onsite too.

Main Street Pizza
This is a San Antonio College student/faculty favorite.  Its right across campus and really inexpensive.  They have decent parking and pretty good food.  The foccaccia bread that comes with just about everything is made daily and excellent.

Sandwich Garden
From what I hear, this place has been around forever.  The guy that owns it is a friend of one of mine.  He used to hike and climb mountains and wilderness all over the world.  The restaurant is super easy to miss if you don't keep an eye out for it.  The sandwiches there are a meal and a half and the bread is made there.  Its a very interesting place.

Bolners
Another landmark building thats easy to miss.  Its a local meat market and convenience store that serves up some great classic American food.  You'll love the traditional bbq with potato salad.

I love this restaurant, especially because they have a 10 page menu. The food is great and there is live mariachis on the weekends.  Happy hour is dangerously inexpensive.
